The following are some examples of
the special investigations currently used at the Thames Allergy Centres:
- Immunoglobulin-E (IgE) - RAST
for immediate or Type A allergies
- Skin Prick Testing (SPT) to 30
common substances and other less common items if appropriate
- A Cellular blood test, which
checks for reactivities amongst 100 common foods and 20 chemicals in
foods (added or naturally found)
- Elimination & Challenge
Diets for other types of food reactivities
- Gut Fermentation Profile (for
IBS patients) for yeast related problems
- Parasitology
stool test looking for micro-organisms or parasites capable of causing
recurrent bowel symptoms
- Lung Function Studies
- Trace Elements/Vitamin/Essential
Fatty Acids Levels
- Tests to identify Chemical Sensitivity
- Volatile Organic Compounds Screen
- Toxic Metal investigations and
others
